BOONI: The All-Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA) in Upper Chitral has strongly opposed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s recent pension reforms, branding them as an “economic murder” of public servants. The alliance is demanding an immediate reversal of the decision.
The newly-elected AGEGA cabinet took their oaths on Wednesday, administered by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Moazzam Bangash. The ceremony was attended by District Health Officer Dr. Farman Wali, Tehsil Council Chairman Mir Jamsheduddin Mir, SDO Sharafuddin, and Press Club President Muhammad Ali.
Following the oath, AGEGA officials held a press conference at the Upper Chitral Press Club, where they criticized the provincial government for introducing pension changes they say will severely affect employees’ financial security.
They also condemned the discontinuation of the firewood allowance—an essential winter benefit in cold regions, provided since 1942—and demanded its restoration.
Additionally, the alliance pointed out the failure of the current government to implement previously approved promotions for teachers. They urged immediate action to fulfill that commitment.
AGEGA Chairman Abdul Javed Khan reaffirmed the alliance’s dedication to addressing employee issues and pledged continued advocacy for workers’ rights and welfare.
