ISLAMABAD: The European Union has announced an immediate emergency aid package of Rs 350 million to support victims of the recent devastating flash floods in Pakistan.
In an official statement, the EU said the funding is aimed at addressing the urgent needs of those affected by the floods, which have claimed multiple lives and left many missing. The flash floods, triggered by intense monsoon rains, have caused widespread destruction across several regions of the country.
The EU expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and those affected, reaffirming its solidarity with the people of Pakistan during this difficult time. The assistance will be delivered through reliable humanitarian organizations operating on the ground.
The aid package will include life-saving health services and direct cash assistance for the most vulnerable and severely impacted individuals.
“The European Union stands with the people of Pakistan in this time of crisis,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, EU Vice President contacted Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar via telephone to express sympathy over the loss of life caused by the floods. According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the EU Vice President extended solidarity with the victims and assured continued support for Pakistan’s relief and recovery efforts.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar thanked the EU for its support and stated that Pakistan is among the countries most affected by the global climate crisis.
