RAWALPINDI: An alleged attempt to kidnap the son of former Punjab minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan and ex-MPA Ammar Siddique triggered alarm in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, prompting a large-scale police response and investigation.
According to police, Ammar Siddique was travelling with his driver near Sangjani when multiple unidentified vehicles intercepted his car. Armed individuals reportedly stopped the vehicle and took the former MPA away after leaving his driver at some distance.
The incident immediately alerted police in both Rawalpindi and Islamabad, who launched searches in surrounding areas and began collecting CCTV footage and other evidence to trace the suspects.
However, police later confirmed that Ammar Siddique returned home safely shortly after the incident. Authorities said he was unharmed.
Officials stated that investigations are underway to determine the nature of the incident, the identity of those involved, and possible motives behind the alleged abduction attempt.
Further evidence, including CCTV footage from different locations, is being reviewed as part of the inquiry.
