Explosion at Police Station In Srinagar Sparks Widespread Damage

SRINAGAR: An explosion at the Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir left at least eight people injured. Indian media reports indicated that the blast occurred due to the detonation of seized ammonium nitrate.

The explosion took place while police personnel along with a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were conducting an inspection of the station’s evidence storage.

The powerful blast caused significant damage to the police station premises, with multiple vehicles parked inside the compound severely affected. The explosion also led to the destruction of windows and other infrastructure within the station. Fire tenders and emergency services rushed to the scene to control the situation and prevent further damage.

While the exact cause of the detonation remains under investigation, initial reports suggest that the ammonium nitrate may have been improperly stored, contributing to the explosion.

The injured, including both police officers and forensic staff, were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
