MASTUNG: An explosion near the railway track close to Mastung caused six coaches of the Jaffer Express to derail.
The train was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar when the blast occurred near Spizand, Mastung.
Railway officials reported that the Jaffer Express had departed Quetta at 9 a.m. when the explosion took place. Fortunately, despite six coaches derailing, no passengers were injured.
This incident comes days after a similar explosion near the railway track in Sibi, which the Jaffer Express narrowly escaped.
In a separate incident, three coaches of the Awam Express derailed near Khanpur City railway crossing in Rahim Yar Khan. The train was traveling from Peshawar to Karachi when the derailment occurred. The affected coaches were separated from the rest of the train.
Railway authorities are yet to determine the cause of the accidents. Rescue trains from Rohri and Samasata have been dispatched to the sites. Due to the accidents, train traffic on the down track has been temporarily suspended.
