MUZAFFARABAD: Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore on Tuesday assumed office after taking oath as the region’s new Prime Minister in place of Anwarul Haq who was voted out in a no-confidence move.
The oath was administered by Speaker of the AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar at a ceremony attended by political leaders and top government officials.
Among those present were Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Mehdi Shah, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Faryal Talpur.
Following the ceremony, Rathore expressed his gratitude to Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for placing their trust in him. He also paid tribute to the Pakistan Army, acknowledging the sacrifices of its personnel in defending the country.
Rathore stated that the Pakistan Peoples Party had renewed its commitment to strengthening its bond with the public and addressing their needs.
His appointment comes a day after a no-confidence motion against former Prime Minister succeeded with 36 votes in favor and only two against.
