LAHORE: Registration for the Kisan Card has started in Punjab, a new scheme for farmers in the province launched by the PML-N government.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that the provincial government would provide Rs300 billion loans under the scheme to the farmers.
She said every farmer can get a loan of Rs150,000 per season and use it for the purchase of modern agricultural equipment or seeds etc to increase productivity.
The main purpose of the Kisan Card scheme is to improve by the condition of the farmers and increase productivity, she added.
The chief minister also said that farmers owning up to 12 acres of agricultural land were eligible to apply for the Kisan Card.
At least 0.5 million farmers would benefit from the Kisan Card scheme launched by the government in the province, she added.
