RAWALPINDI: An anti-corruption cade on Monday granted bail to former minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry and ordered his release.
The court ordered the former minister to deposit surety bonds worth Rs200,000.
The court in the first week of November had sent him on judicial remand in a fraud case registered against him on the complaint of a citizen.
On November 5, Chaudhry was handed over to the police for two days in connection with the inquiry of the case in which he was arrested on November 4.
Chaudhry, a former leader of the PTI, had joined the newly-formed Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party after the May 9 violence following the arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan. However, he reportedly backtracked from his decision to part ways with Imran Khan.
Earlier, he was arrested soon after the May 9 incidents, but released. Chaudhry was again picked up from his house in Islamabad on November 4 and taken to an undisclosed location on November 4.
