ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns by 15 days, allowing taxpayers to submit their returns until October 15.
An official notification issued by the FBR confirmed the extension, which aims to facilitate filers and ensure maximum participation in the country’s tax system.
According to sources, more than 4 million individuals have already filed their tax returns, marking a significant increase compared to previous years.
Tax experts welcomed the move, saying it would provide much-needed relief to salaried individuals, business owners, and professionals who were struggling to meet the initial deadline.
They added that the extension could also help the government broaden its tax base and improve revenue collection at a time of mounting economic pressures.
The FBR has urged all remaining taxpayers to take advantage of the extension and file their returns within the new deadline to avoid penalties and ensure compliance.
