LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle has arrested two senior officials of the Customs Department in Lahore on charges of involvement in the illegal auction of vehicles.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the suspects include a Deputy Collector and an Assistant Collector, both currently serving in the department. Investigators allege that the officials manipulated official records by making fake auction entries and issuing fraudulent verifications to facilitate unlawful transactions.
The arrests followed an inquiry into irregularities in customs auctions, where significant evidence of forgery and misuse of authority was uncovered. The FIA spokesperson said further investigations are under way to determine the extent of the scam and identify other individuals who may be involved.
Officials emphasized that the crackdown is part of FIA’s ongoing efforts to curb corruption and ensure transparency in government departments.
