PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering stance on peace with its neighbors, particularly Afghanistan, while making it clear that the country will not tolerate cross-border terrorism emanating from Afghan soil.

His remarks came during an interactive session with tribal elders in Peshawar, where he underscored the importance of maintaining national security and regional stability.

Field Marshal Munir emphasized that despite repeated instances of cross-border terrorism originating from Afghanistan, Pakistan has exercised remarkable patience in recent years. The country has made numerous diplomatic and economic efforts to foster better bilateral relations with Afghanistan, hoping for a peaceful resolution.

However, he expressed disappointment that the Afghan Taliban regime has failed to take decisive action against terrorist groups allegedly supported by India, such as Fitna Al Khwarij and Fitna Al Hindustan.

The Army Chief assured the tribal elders that Pakistan will not relent in its fight against terrorism and will continue to cleanse Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other areas of terrorist elements and their supporters. He praised the unwavering support of the tribal communities, especially during recent tensions with the Afghan Taliban, and honored the sacrifices made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the ongoing war against terror.

The tribal leaders reaffirmed their full support for Pakistan’s armed forces in combating terrorism, particularly in opposition to the Afghan Taliban’s radical ideology, which they condemned as having no place in the region. They also expressed gratitude for the candid discussion provided by Field Marshal Munir and assured their commitment to peace and security.

The Field Marshal was briefed on the current security situation, operational readiness, and ongoing counter-terrorism initiatives along the Pak-Afghan border. He was received upon arrival by the Commander of Peshawar Corps.
