FIR registered against Aligarh varsity students for pro-Palestine rally

Police say several students have been nominated in the case but no arrest made yet.

ALIGARH (INDIA): The Indian police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against several students of Aligarh Muslim University for taking out a rally against the Israeli aggression on Palestinian people.

The rally was held by the students of the university on Sunday evening in which the participants chanted slogans in support of the Palestinian people and against Israel.

Hamas launched multiple attacks on Israeli towns from Gaza early on Saturday and killed several people including Israeli security forces besides taking many as captives.

In retaliation, Israel launched air strikes on Gaza and has since then also laid a siege to the enclave, drawing condemnation from different countries. Over one thousand people including children have been killed in the air strikes by Israel.

Moreover, rallies have been held in America, Europe and other parts of the world calling upon the Zionist state not to target the civilian population and lift the blockade of Gaza.

However, the Modi government in India in support of the Israelis has gone a step ahead and showed its ugly face by registering a case against the peaceful students for taking out a rally in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

According to the Times of India, Aligarh police booked the students under sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 188 (deliberate disobedience of an order duly promulgated by a public servant), 505 (publishing or circulating any statement containing rumor) of the IPC at the Civil Lines police station on Monday.

However, the police said an investigation was still ongoing and no arrest had been made though several students were nominated in the FIR.
