Five family members killed in another shooting in US

A couple of days back, lone gunman killed 22 people and injured many others and fled.

At least five members of a family were shot dead in a house in North Carolina, United States of America on Thursday.

Authorities said that after being alerted about the incident, police reached the house and found the dead bodies of five people, including a woman.

They said that the victims were aged 30 to 80 years. There was no information about the killer.

Two days ago, a lone gunman in the US state of Maine went on a shooting spree and killed 22 people and injured scores of others.

The killer, Robert Card, was seen in surveillance footage pointing a semi-automatic weapon with an extended clip as he walked into a bowling alley in the town of Lewiston, the police said in a statement.

It added that Card is a certified firearms instructor and a member of the US Army Reserve.

Lewiston city councillor Robert McCarthy told CNN that law enforcement had “confirmed 22 dead, many, many more injured”, with local media reporting shootings had occurred at multiple locations.

The Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston declared the incident a “mass casualty, mass shooter event” and is working closely with neighbouring hospitals to provide care to the injured.
