Five Pakistani family members sent to jail in Britain

Girl's husband, his parents found guilty of paralyzing her for life by poisining

LONDON: A young man and his parents along with a brother and a sister were sent to jail in the United Kingdom after they were found guilty of domestic violence.

According to the court record, Asghar Sheikh married to Ambreen Fatima in Pakistan and brought her to the UK in the year 2014.

Before her marriage, young Ambreen worked in Pakistan as a teacher. 

Ambreen soon after her arrival in the UK was tortured as the family was not happy with her handling of household chores. It was alleged that the husband of Ambreen gave some poisonous drink to Ambreen after which her condition deteriorated.

When the matter reached the court, Ambreen was found paralyzed snd fed through a tube. During the proceedings, the judge remarked that it could not be ascertained since how long she had faced domestic violence. 

The court was told that Ambreen was given the poisonous drink by force or through deceit due to which her brain was affected. The court was told that Ambreen was brought to the UK in the year 2014.

The court sent Asghar Sheikh, his father Nadeem Sheikh, mother Shabnam Sheikh for seven years and nine months and also sentenced his brother Saqlain and sister Shagufta to different terms in prison.
