ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned the life imprisonment of Kashmiri leader and Dukhtaran-e-Millat head, Asiya Andrabi, along with 30-year sentences for her two associates, Fahmida Sofi and Naheeda Nasreen, by a court in Delhi.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the verdict, delivered under India’s Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, violates the principles of justice and reflects ongoing human rights violations in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
The statement described the decision as part of a broader pattern of politically motivated cases aimed at suppressing dissent and intimidating those advocating for the legitimate rights of the Kashmiri people. It also raised serious concerns about fair legal processes, judicial independence, and adherence to international human rights standards.
Pakistan added that such actions escalate regional tensions and undermine prospects for peace and stability. The government urged the international community, including the United Nations and human rights organizations, to take immediate notice and hold India accountable for its actions.
