FO opens two more postal document attestation centers

Courrier services given authority of attestation in Quetta and Gujrat, says spokesperson.

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has announced that it has started postal document attestation from two more cities of Pakistan to facilitate the citizens visiting abroad.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said that the facility of postal attestation of documents was already available in Islamabad, Lahore Karachi and Peshawar. Now the facility of postal attestation has been provided in Quetta in Gujrat.

The spokesman said that courrier companies had all the authority to accept power of attorney and other document for attestation.

In an earlier announcement, the FO had said that taking advance appointment for document attestation had been stopped and citizens can now visit the Foreign Office and get their documents attested through the walk-in facility.

The Foreign Office said that the facility of postal attestation of documents was already available in Islamabad, Lahore Karachi and Peshawar. 

However, citizens criticized the exorbitant hike in the fee. The FO has jacked up the personal/educational document attestation fee from Rs500 to Rs3,000 per document.

Similarly, legal document will be attested on payment of Rs4,500 and commercial papers at Rs12,000 per document. Earlier, these two documents were attested for just Rs700 and Rs3,000, respectively.
