ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has summoned the Afghan Chargé d’Affaires to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad and issued a strong demarche over the recent terrorist attack in Karachi.

Responding to media queries, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said a similar demarche was also conveyed by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani to the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The spokesperson said the diplomatic protest was issued in light of the involvement of Afghan nationals in the attack, including one suspect who was apprehended alive.

He said this, according to Pakistan, once again demonstrates that Afghan soil and Afghan nationals continue to be used to orchestrate terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.

Pakistan has called on the Afghan authorities to take effective action against terrorist groups operating from their territory and to prevent the use of Afghan soil for activities that threaten Pakistan’s security.
