ISLAMABAD: Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas has been formally charged in a case involving the alleged misuse of a diplomatic passport.
The hearing took place at the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad before Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shehzad Gondal, where Tanveer Ilyas appeared in person.
Sardar Tanveer Ilyas denied all allegations. The court has summoned prosecution witnesses for the next hearing and adjourned proceedings until October 6.
The case has attracted widespread public attention, raising questions about the misuse of privileges associated with public office. Legal analysts note that the outcome could set an important precedent for the oversight and regulation of diplomatic passports in Pakistan.
Previously, the court had granted bail to Tanveer Ilyas in connection with the same diplomatic passport case.
