Freezing of funds only in Sindh will be raised with CEC: Bilawal
Says PPP is the only party ready for going to the polls.
KARACHI: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said freezing of funds for development projects only in Sindh will be raised with the chief election commissioner and the chief minister. If necessary, this matter will also be referred to court.
He also announced the commemoration of 16th anniversary of October 18 Karsaz tragedy at the district level across the country.
According to a press release issued by Bilawal House, he met the PPP’s mayors and deputy mayors including Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of District Councils of entire Sindh at Bilawal House, Karachi.
Addressing the representatives of local bodies, he asked them to play their full role in resolving public issues, establishing effective communication with the people, and strengthening their roots.
Bhutto said elected representatives should write to the CEC and the CM and urge them to unfreeze the ban on development projects.
The chairman of PPP stated that elected representatives are expressing concerns about limited resources. If corruption occurs even with the limited resources, it harms the public.
He stated that laws were enacted in the government to ensure the continuity of development schemes, and hoped that development projects will continue at both the federal and provincial levels.
Bilawal said the Election Commission should continue approved development work in the budget.
Speaking about the upcoming general elections, Bhutto said that the PPP Pakistan was prepared for the elections, and it is the only party in the country which is always ready for the elections.
On delaying the elections in the country, he said that some leaders talk about the blockade of roads due to severe cold in the month of January.
He said there will be a security issue, adding that the people should recognize such leaders who are trying to avoid and run away from the elections.
He emphasized that until the notification of the election date is not issued, he and his party will not sit idle.
He said that the existing polarisation in the polity and society can be solved only through a unifying slogan of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto that: “Not yours, not mine, but Pakistan for everyone.”
He stated that if everyone works hard, Pakistan Peoples Party will win, as only it can solve the problems of the people and the country.
PPP Women’s Wing Central President Faryal Talpur, PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Secretary General Senator Waqar Mehdi, Information Secretary Aajiz Dhamrah, and former Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Syed Murad Ali Shah were also present.
