PARIS: French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that he will co-chair a conference on the two-state solution along with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in New York on September 22.
President Macron stated that the U.S. decision not to issue visas to Palestinian officials is unacceptable. He urged Washington to reverse this move and ensure Palestinian representation under the “Host Country Agreement.”
Macron emphasized that the objective is to build the broadest possible international support for the two-state solution, describing it as the only path to fulfilling the legitimate aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians.
He further underlined that achieving this goal requires a permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages, large-scale humanitarian aid for Gaza, and the deployment of a stabilization mission in the region.
The French president also stressed the importance of disarming Hamas, excluding it from Gaza’s governance, strengthening the Palestinian Authority through reforms, and fully reconstructing Gaza.
Macron made it clear that no aggressive action, annexation attempt, or forced displacement can be allowed to obstruct this effort.
