SHARM EL SHEIKH: A historic Gaza Peace Agreement was officially signed on Monday at the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt, signaling a major step toward ending the long-standing humanitarian and political crisis in Gaza.

The landmark accord was signed by US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Amir of Qatar Sheikh Thamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, committing their nations to cooperate in restoring stability, security, and peace in the region.

Addressing a joint press conference with President El-Sisi, President Trump described the agreement as a transformative achievement. He said the deal “will usher in peace and stability in the region” and expressed deep gratitude to Arab and global leaders who contributed to its realization.

He also specifically acknowledged Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, noting that their efforts were instrumental in reaching this historic milestone.

President Trump emphasized that the agreement marks a historic turning point in regional dynamics. “All momentum now points toward lasting peace, and all parties are committed to implementing the Gaza Peace Plan,” he stated.

Egyptian President El-Sisi hailed the agreement as a decisive step in ending the tragic conflict in Gaza. He thanked regional and international partners for their support and reaffirmed Egypt’s full commitment to ensuring the plan’s successful execution.

“Peace remains our chosen path,” he said, emphasizing that this agreement provides a unique opportunity to remove longstanding threats to the Middle East’s stability and development.

In recognition of his pivotal role in the peace process, President El-Sisi announced that President Trump will be awarded Egypt’s highest state honor, the ‘Order of the Nile’, bestowed upon individuals who render extraordinary services to humanity.

The signing ceremony was attended by a host of global leaders, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, King Abdullah II of Jordan, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Indonesia, the Prime Ministers of Italy, Spain, and Armenia, as well as Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif represented Pakistan at the summit.

The Gaza Peace Agreement has been widely hailed as a pivotal step toward achieving lasting peace and security in Gaza and the broader Middle East, offering renewed hope for stability, development, and regional cooperation.
