German diplomat found dead in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A German diplomat was on Monday found dead in his flat located in the Diplomatic Enclave of Islamabad, the capital police said.

An official of the police said that the deceased was identified as Thomas Jurgen Bielefeld, 58, second secretary at the embassy of Germany in Islamabad. The dead body of the diplomat was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for postmortem to ascertain the cause of his death.

Officials in the German embassy told the police that recently the second secretary had a minor heart attack. However, the actual cause of his death would be ascertained in the postmortem.

According to the embassy officials, the diplomat lived in the flat alone and did not come to office on Monday and neither attended phone calls. Later, officials from the embassy reached his residence and broke open and found him dead.
