Global Organizations Express Concern Over Terror Networks in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: International organizations have expressed serious concern over the growing activity of terrorist networks operating inside Afghanistan, according to a report published by the Afghan outlet Afghanistan International.

The report states that the 11th conference of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) was held in Tashkent on 20–21 November, attended by representatives from the United Nations, the OSCE, Interpol, and other global bodies.

During the conference, participants discussed measures to prevent civilians from joining extremist groups and ways to counter emerging cybersecurity threats.

According to Olarbek, the head of the SCO Anti-Terrorist Structure, SCO officials believe that terrorist groups in Afghanistan are becoming increasingly active.

He revealed that international terrorist organizations have strengthened their presence not only in Afghanistan but also in parts of Syria, and are planning to send militants to Central Asian countries.

Olarbek added that these networks are expanding their operational reach by planning attacks, forming sleeper cells in Central Asia, raising funds, and using forged documents from third countries.

Meanwhile, several global organizations have also voiced concerns over the heightened activities of terrorist groups operating within Afghanistan.
