Govt taking steps for welfare of laborers: PM

LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the International Labor Day arranged a gathering of Laborers at his residence in Lahore and assured them that all-out efforts would be taken for the welfare of the working class.

He said that the laborers were the most important player in the development of the country but they were also the most neglected segment of society.

He said both the public and private sectors could play an important role in bringing improvement in the life of the laborers. He said businessmen and investors should accord top priority to welfare of their workers while formulating policies.

He said the government fully acknowledged the hard work of labourers and was determined to ensure their welfare and prosperity. He said that there was a need to minimize luxurious lifestyle of the elite class to bring an improvement in the life of those who lacked resources.

The prime minister said that the government was working to reduce its expenses and put the country on a sound footing to create an environment conducive for economic development.

In order to attract foreign investment, the government had also taken a number of steps. With more investment, job opportunities could be created so no one remains unemployment.
