ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that the country currently has sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel, assuring that supply remains stable in line with demand.

Chairing a meeting of the Petroleum Monitoring Committee, Muhammad Aurangzeb reviewed the overall demand and supply situation of petroleum products across the country. He stated that diesel reserves are available for around 25 days, while petrol supply is being maintained according to current consumption levels.

The meeting decided to take strict action against hoarding and artificial shortages. It was also agreed to activate the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (OGRA) digital dashboard to improve real-time monitoring of the petroleum sector.

Officials directed enhanced surveillance of more than 12,000 petrol pumps nationwide, warning that legal action would be taken against those found violating regulations. The meeting also emphasized improving reporting mechanisms of oil companies, including Pakistan State Oil and other stakeholders.

The committee further reviewed gas supply and distribution, stressing the need for a balanced allocation between domestic consumers and the power sector. The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency, uninterrupted supply, and protection of consumer interests.

Muhammad Aurangzeb added that crude oil reserves are sufficient for about 12 days, while petroleum imports are being carried out as per schedule. He noted that data reporting from petrol pumps is below expectations and announced that joint teams, including officials from the FIA and other agencies, will conduct inspections of fuel stations in Islamabad to ensure compliance.
