ISLAMABAD: The Green Climate Fund (GCF), an international organization dedicated to addressing climate change, has approved financial assistance of $250 million for Pakistan.
According to a statement issued by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the approved funds will be used for the “Glaciers to Farms” project. The initiative aims to help Pakistan manage and protect water systems originating from glaciers, which are increasingly affected by climate change.
The statement added that the assistance will particularly benefit farmers in the Swat region, providing them with improved agricultural and irrigation facilities. The project will be implemented with technical and financial support from the ADB.
Officials said the project is designed to enhance climate resilience in northern Pakistan, safeguard water resources, and promote sustainable farming practices.
