H-1B Visa Renewals to Require In-Person Appointments From Sept

Increased demand for in-person appointments is likely to create longer wait times for visa processing, day immigration attorneys.

WASHINGTON: Beginning in September, H-1B visa holders will be required to renew their visas through in-person appointments, marking a significant shift from the previous process that allowed certain renewals to be completed remotely.

Immigration attorneys and advocates are warning that this change may lead to delays at U.S. consulates and embassies, as thousands of visa holders rush to schedule appointments to comply with the new requirements.

“The increased demand for in-person appointments is likely to create longer wait times for visa processing,” said immigration attorney Jane Doe. “H-1B workers should plan ahead to avoid disruptions to their employment.”

The U.S. State Department has not yet specified how long processing times may take under the new procedure but has urged visa holders to book appointments early.

This policy change is part of a broader effort to tighten visa procedures and ensure security protocols are followed. H-1B visa holders are encouraged to review guidelines provided by the U.S. consulates and prepare necessary documentation well in advance.
