GAZA: The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has announced that it will delay the handover of Israeli hostage bodies due to what it describes as repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement by Israel.
In a statement issued by the Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, the group warned that continued Israeli airstrikes are hindering the process of locating and returning the bodies of hostages.
Under the terms of the recently brokered ceasefire agreement, Hamas was expected to hand over the body of one Israeli hostage yesterday. However, the militant group said that the Israeli military’s ongoing attacks forced it to postpone the process.
Hamas accused Israel of violating the ceasefire deal reached in Sharm El-Sheikh, calling the Israeli bombardment a “clear breach” of the agreement. The group also condemned the continued closure of the Rafah border crossing, saying it was a deliberate attempt by Israel to sabotage the truce.
Hamas urged the international mediators and guarantor countries to take immediate action and pressure Israel to stop its attacks and honor all terms of the ceasefire agreement.
