LAHORE: Lahore Police deployed heavy forces near Mansurah to stop the “Haqq Do Balochistan Long March,” led by Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rahman, from heading towards Islamabad.
Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb arrived at Mansurah along with a government delegation to negotiate with leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami. During the talks, Jamaat-e-Islami leaders were connected via phone with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The Chief Minister proposed forming a committee to maintain dialogue, but Jamaat-e-Islami leadership remained firm on proceeding with the march to Islamabad.
Despite negotiations between the Punjab government and Jamaat-e-Islami to halt the march, no agreement was reached. Jamaat-e-Islami leaders insisted on continuing their journey.
In a media statement, Liaqat Baloch said the government delegation was informed that the march would reach Islamabad at all costs. Both sides agreed to form committees to seek a resolution, expressing hope for a peaceful outcome.
Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rahman emphasized that their protest is peaceful and they plan to proceed to Islamabad as scheduled. Jamaat-e-Islami leaders confirmed that the march will start from Mansurah for Islamabad on Wednesday morning.
The “Haqq Do Balochistan Long March” arrived in Lahore yesterday as part of its ongoing journey.
