Islamabad:  The Health Services Academy (HSA) has trained more than 10,000 professionals in various health-related disciplines to date, while over 400 of its trained experts are currently playing a vital role in strengthening the healthcare system across different districts and tehsils in Pakistan.

The academy has emerged as a reliable and sustainable national institution that is producing a skilled, competent, and future-ready health workforce aligned with Pakistan’s national needs.

Speaking to the media, the HSA spokesperson said that the Academy is not only developing a robust human resource base for the health sector but is also playing a leadership role in national policymaking, emergency response, and adapting to modern trends in healthcare.

The spokesperson highlighted that during the global COVID-19 pandemic, HSA-trained professionals rendered outstanding services at both national and provincial levels. “Our graduates actively contributed to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), where they helped formulate vaccination strategies, plan smart lockdowns, and implement data-driven decision-making,” he said.

On the challenge of dengue fever, the spokesperson noted that HSA-trained professionals took effective preventive and response measures in cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Karachi. These included hotspot mapping, larval surveillance, community engagement, and the introduction of vector control models.

He added that HSA experts are not only active in the field but are also contributing significantly at the policy level. “Many of our alumni are serving in advisory capacities with international organizations such as WHO, UNICEF, and the World Bank. Their research is now being integrated into national planning and development frameworks.”

Discussing field-level impact, the spokesperson stated that HSA-trained officers are serving in key roles such as District Health Officers, Monitoring & Evaluation Officers, and Program Managers in critical regions including Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and South Punjab. “Whether it’s floods, polio, or any public health emergency, our professionals are on the frontlines,” he emphasized.

The spokesperson further noted that HSA’s Centre for Executive Education in Health (CEEH) has trained over 10,000 individuals nationwide, focusing on areas such as hospital management, governance, monitoring, and various dimensions of public health.

Looking ahead, he shared that the Academy is actively working in emerging areas such as climate health, digital health, gender equity, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “Through focused research and capacity building, HSA is guiding Pakistan toward a healthier and more self-reliant future,” he said.

Reaffirming the Academy’s mission, the spokesperson concluded that HSA will continue to play an increasingly active and effective role in preparing a skilled public health workforce to ensure equitable and accessible healthcare services across every region of the country.
