Afghanistan Global Symbol of Oppression Against Women: Hillary

WASHINGTON: Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has strongly condemned the Afghan Taliban regime for its violations of women’s rights, calling it a global symbol of oppression.

In an article published in the international journal Foreign Affairs, Clinton criticized the regime for supporting terrorism, restricting civil liberties, and systematically depriving women of their rights.
According to her article, the Taliban have completely excluded Afghan women from political, social, and public life. The regime has imposed strict restrictions on secondary education, university admissions, and professional opportunities for women. Clinton stated that these bans on education and employment are deliberate tools to prolong the Taliban’s rule.
“Afghan Taliban are silencing half the population under the guise of religion to strengthen their power. Their oppression of women reinforces authoritarian control. Preventing this is both a moral and political duty,” she wrote.
Experts note that the Taliban prioritize control and ideological dominance over public welfare, directly affecting ordinary Afghan citizens, particularly women. Attacks on women’s rights, restricting access to information and economic resources, are part of a brutal strategy to consolidate the regime’s power.
