ISLAMABAD: At least 12 family members were buried alive when landslide buried their house in Maidan village of Patrik in Dir Upper, Khyber Pakthunkhwa.
Rescue 1122 and police said that the victims included nine children, two women abd one man. The dead bodies have retrieved the dead bodies from the debris.
The local administration said that the incident was caused by heavy rain for many hours.
Different areas of Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan have received heavy to light rain after which roads have been blocked at many key points.
Heavy a rain has also lashed different parts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi and Islamabad. In Rawalpindi, low-lying areas have submerged in rainwater and people living along Leh Nullah have fled to safer places as water level in the nullah increased to the dangerous level.
In Karachi, a depression had developed about 250 km in the southeast of the ocean and a cyclone was moving towards Makran coast causing heavy rain in Karachi and other parts of Sindh and Balochistan.
Keeping in view the weather situation, the government has announced that all educational institutions will remain closed in Karachi on Friday.
