Says blocking motorways and roads to federal capital an open violation of citizens' right to free moment.

ISLAMABAD: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has expressed concerns about the forcible closure of hostels in educational institutions in Islamabad before the PTI’s protest on November 24th.

In a statement issued on Saturday night, the HRCP criticized the Islamabad capital territory administration for forcing both male and female students to leave their hostels.

The students said that police and district administration officials forced them to vacate their hostels on Friday and closed the hostels. The students were told to leave and go to their native towns.

Some students complained that they belonged to Parachinar where all roads were blocked due to sectarian killings and law and order issue. Other students said that they belonged to remote areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral and cannot go home.

The HRCP said that such actions showed lack of empathy towards students and violated basic human right pf shelter that too at a time when the government had blocked all roads.

The closure of roads including the motorways and GT Road caused hardships to thousands of people who remained stuck in different parts of the country unable to reach their destinations.

The police and administration officials closed the hostels without any notice. They also forced people staying in hotels in different parts of Islamabad.
