If India tries to block water, we will destroy that structure: Asif

Defense minister says in case India makes any move under guise of face-saving, we will smear their face with black ink.

ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a strong warning to India, stating that if India constructs any structure to block the river waters, Pakistan will destroy it.

He emphasized that violating the Indus Waters Treaty would be considered an act of war against Pakistan.

Speaking in a TV program, Khawaja Asif said the Indus Waters Treaty is an international agreement and cannot be violated easily. He stated, “If India breaches the treaty, Pakistan will respond strongly and attack any such dam or structure.”

The defense minister also questioned India’s claims regarding the Pahalgam incident, saying New Delhi has not provided any evidence. “India has become a hostage to its own narrative,” he remarked.

Khawaja Asif said that the US vice president had given India an opportunity for face-saving, but warned that if India misused this opportunity and engaged in any adventurism, Pakistan will respond harshly. He said bluntly, “If India makes any move under the guise of face-saving, we will smear their face with black ink.”

This statement comes at a time when tensions over water disputes in the region are rising, and mutual trust between the two countries is increasingly eroding.
