ISLAMABAD: Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has warned that if India violates the Indus Waters Treaty by attempting to block Pakistan’s water, it should be prepared to face severe consequences.
He emphasized that Pakistan is fully prepared to respond decisively to any Indian aggression. “If you block out water, we will block your breath,”
Addressing an important press conference in Rawalpindi, Hanif Abbasi said, “Ghauri, Ghaznavi, and Shaheen missiles were not built for decoration in public squares. All our missiles are aimed at India and are ready for defense at all times.”
He accused India of using the Pahalgam bus attack as a pretext to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty, which guarantees Pakistan’s rights to its waters. The minister warned that any attempt to block Pakistan’s water would be considered an act of war and would be met with the harshest response.
Mr Abbasi announced that Pakistan Railways has been placed under the full authority of the armed forces, allowing it to be utilized for defense purposes, including the transportation of weapons and the movement of troops, whenever necessary.
He further emphasized that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear power and seeks peace in the region, but will not hesitate to defend its sovereignty and resources at any cost if provoked.
Concluding his address, he urged the international community to ensure the protection of the Indus Waters Treaty, warning that any violation could dangerously escalate tensions in the region.
