IHC summons caretaker PM in missing Baloch students’ case

Order issued as govt failed to make progress to recover 55 missing Baloch students.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday summoned caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar while hearing a case related to the disappearance of as many as 55 Baloch students for many years.

The court was hearing the case based on a report submitted by a commission formed on the direction of the court.

The court directed that the government should recover the missing students or the caretaker prime minister should appear before the court on November 29.

Additional attorney general Munawar Iqbal Dogal appeared in the court today.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani told the attorney general that it was the 21st hearing of the case.

A commission was formed on the direction of former IHC chief justice Athar Minallah and its report along with the recommendations were sent to the federal government but so far no progress has been made for the recovery of the students, the judge remarked.

He said the matter was also sent to the Prime Minister House but the PM didn’t take any action.

The attorney general said that such matters were marked to the concerned quarters or shared with the cabinet for redressal.

The judge said that the court would summon the caretaker prime minister, the Interior minister and the minister for human rights.

On the request of the attorney general, the court gave seven days to him to resolve the issue.
