Imran granted bail in second Toshakhana case
IHC orders PTI founder to deposit surety bond and cooperate with trial court.
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday granted bail to PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan in the second Toshakhana case.
After dismissal of the first Toshakhana against Imran Khan and his wife by the Islamabad High Court, the National Accountability Court constituted the second case against the couple and arrested them on July 13.
According to the case, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi took different items from Toshakhana and later sold them.
Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb took up the bail plea of Imran Khan today and asked the prosecution what action had been taken against the customs officers who had fixed wrong assessment of the values of the items.
The prosecution told the court that it was a misunderstanding by the officers and there was no misconduct on their part that could warrant action. The prosecution said that a jewellery set was kept by the accused without depositing it in the Toshakhana.
After hearing arguments of both the sides, the court accepted the bail application and ordered the PTI founder to deposit Rs1 million surety bond. He was also ordered to cooperate with the trial court otherwise the bail could be withdrawn.
