Imran, Qureshi meet during hearing of cipher case in jail

Lawyers say former prime minister seemed frail.

RAWALPINDI: Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi met for the first time after being jailed during the hearing of the cipher case inside the Adiala jail on Wednesday, according to lawyers who were present on the occasion.

Both the former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan and party vice chairman Qureshi are being trialed in the cipher case in the prison.

The hearing of the case was conducted by the special court constituted under the Official Secrets Act.

The sources said Imran looked normal in health but was somehow weak and frail. He shook hands with his lawyers and also talked to them briefly.

Imran and Qureshi also met and talked to each other during hearing of the case.

Meanwhile, the special court put off the hearing of the case till October 9th without any proceedings.

PTI’s lawyers contended that the special court should suspend the in-camera hearing of the case as earlier in the day the Islamabad High Court in a petition of the party decided to hear Imran’s bail plea in the same case in an open court on October 9.

The PTI legal team during the hearing also refused to receive a copy of FIA challan submitted to the court last week.
