Imran remanded in 12 cases of May 9

Stay in trial of PTI founder's founder in cipher case also expires today.

RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court here on Thursday remanded former prime minister Imran Khan for 14 days in 12 cases registered against him in connection with the May 9 arson attacks cases.

ATC judge Malik Ijaz conducted the hearing of the cases inside the Adiala jail where the founder of the PTI is held.

Police pleaded for 30 days’ remand of the PTI founder for questioning jim in the terrorism cases. However, the judge granted only 14 days of remand. 

On May 9, 2023, Imran Khan was arrested by NAB in corruption case in Islamabad. Soon after this, his supporters took to the streets and burnt down public properties including military ok installations. 

Imran Khan was released three days later on the direction of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Later, on August 5, he was arrested again and shifted to the district jail of Attock.

Trial in cipher case 

Meanwhile, the trial of Imran Khan in the cipher case is set to resume as a stay granted by Islamabad High Court has expired today.

The high court had issued the stay on December 14 on the in-camera trial of the cade in the Adiala jail.
