Imran’s Nephew Sent to Jail on Judicial Remand

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Saturday sent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s nephew, Shahrez Khan, to jail on judicial remand in connection with the Jinnah House attack case.

Judge Manzar Ali Gul of the ATC heard the case, where Shahrez was presented after completing his eight-day physical remand. The Sarwar Road police had registered a case against him for his alleged involvement in the attack on Jinnah House during the May 9 riots.

The prosecution sought an extension of his physical remand, but the court rejected the request and instead sent him to jail on judicial remand.

Earlier, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan had told reporters outside the ATC that while the PTI chief was granted bail in eight cases, authorities “retaliated by picking up” her son. She further added that her other son, Shershah, is also facing charges in the same Jinnah House attack case.

The Jinnah House incident, which occurred during the violent protests on May 9 following Imran Khan’s arrest, remains one of the most high-profile cases against PTI leadership and workers, with dozens of arrests and ongoing trials.
