ISLAMABAD: In another dramatic escalation in its neighborhood, India has reportedly carried out drone strikes inside Myanmar, targeting camps of a separatist group, in what is being described as a violation of Myanmar’s sovereignty and international law.

According to foreign news agencies, the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), a separatist organization seeking independence for the Indian state of Assam, has claimed that the Indian military launched drone attacks on their camp across the Myanmar border.

The group stated that three of its senior commanders were killed in the strikes, while several other members and some civilians were injured.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the Indian military or government regarding the drone strikes.

Indian media reports suggest that the attacks took place in the Sagaing region of Myanmar and involved the use of 150 Israeli-made drones, indicating a large-scale and well-planned operation.

ULFA alleges that the strikes were launched from Indian military camps in Arunachal Pradesh and has vowed to take revenge for what it called “brutal Indian aggression.”

The alleged strikes have raised concerns about the breach of international borders and could have serious diplomatic implications between India and Myanmar.
