ISLAMABAD: British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who is on a visit to Pakistan, has stated that India had not provided any evidence for the accusations made against Pakistan.
He said that he does not expect India to share matters of national security with him. David Lammy mentioned that the terrorist attack in Pahalgam was horrific, and the UK condemns all forms of terrorism; we sympathize with the victims.
He noted that Pakistan had also been a victim of terrorism, and we must ensure that extremism is not promoted. The British Foreign Secretary stated that the leadership of Pakistan and India had played an impressive role regarding the ceasefire, and they were working with international partners to maintain it.
He added that he was the first British Foreign Secretary to visit Pakistan in four years and will discuss enhancing mutual relations, culture, and trade with Pakistan.
David Lammy remarked that the tension between Pakistan and India directly affects individuals from both countries residing in the UK.
He said that there were so many concerns from the British Pakistani community that the Pakistan High Commission received over 2,000 calls.
During his visit, David Lammy also met with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
According to a Foreign Office spokesperson, Ishaq Dar welcomed the British Foreign Secretary on his first visit to Pakistan. The spokesperson stated that the meeting discussed the situation in South Asia and developments following the ceasefire, during which Ishaq Dar informed about India’s provocative actions.
The Foreign Office spokesperson reported that Ishaq Dar stated that Indian actions violate Pakistan’s sovereignty and the United Nations Charter.
