ISLAMABAD: India has failed in its attempt to get Pakistan re-listed on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, according to sources.
During the recent FATF meeting, India’s diplomatic delegation made efforts to push for Pakistan’s inclusion in the grey list. However, the move was strongly opposed by China, which supported Pakistan’s case and called for relief. Turkey and Japan also extended their full support to Pakistan.
Pakistan was removed from the grey list in October 2022, after being under increased monitoring since 2018 due to concerns related to money laundering and terrorist financing.
FATF is a global watchdog with 37 members, including the United States, United Kingdom, China, India, and Turkey. Its main responsibilities include setting international standards to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.
