ISLAMABAD: The ISPR on Wednesday night repelled what it termed “yet another blatant military act of aggression” by India, after a series of Herap drones were launched across the border targeting multiple locations, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General ISPR, stated that the Pakistan Armed Forces, operating under a high state of alert, successfully neutralized 12 Indian drones. However, one drone managed to breach defenses and partially struck a military target near Lahore.
“As a result of this attack, four Pakistan Army personnel sustained injuries, and some equipment suffered partial damage,” said Lt Gen Chaudhry during a press briefing.
The ISPR condemned the drone incursion as a provocative act and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty. The statement did not mention if Pakistan intends to respond militarily or pursue the matter through diplomatic channels.
There has been no official response from the Indian government regarding the drone incident at the time of this report.
The latest development raises concerns of further escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, who have a history of border skirmishes and diplomatic standoffs.
