NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi, the opposition leader and senior Congress party figure in India, has been detained by Delhi police while leading a march towards the Election Commission office.
According to Indian media reports, the march was organized to protest alleged electoral fraud. At the time of his detention, Rahul Gandhi stated, “The truth cannot be silenced; this is not a fight for power but a fight to save the Constitution.”
He emphasized the demand for “one man, one vote,” calling for a clean and transparent voter list.
Two days ago, Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission of colluding with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to rig the general elections. He presented evidence alleging that the election process was tampered with, including the creation of duplicate voter IDs, fake addresses in some constituencies, and the use of fraudulent photographs.
Gandhi further claimed that more than 100 parliamentary seats were manipulated and suggested that if the alleged rigging had not occurred, Narendra Modi would not be the Prime Minister of India today.
He called the Election Commission’s actions an act of betrayal and announced plans to take legal action against the alleged electoral fraud.
