Indians arrive to take part in Mixed Martial Arts championship

Pakistan is hosting the Mixed Martial Arts Asian Championship for the first time, officials say.

LAHORE: Fighters from India arrived in Lahore to participate in the Mixed Martial Arts Asian Championship being held in Pakistan from Aug 18 (today).

According to media reports, the 13-member Indian squads, including officials were received at Wagah border by office-bearers of Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Association. Later, they were driven to a hotel in Lahore amid tight security.

The Mixed Martial Arts Championship is being hosted by Pakistan. The contests will continue till Aug 22. The Indian squads also includes two women, The captains of the Pakistani and Indian sides said that the competitions would be very tough and thrilling.

Officials said 23 teams from different countries were taking part in the “Brave Combat and Asian Championship competitions”. They said that 12 teams will participate in Asian Championship and 11 in the Brave Combat. More than 180 fighters, 120 officials and 120 technical staff will participate in the competitions.
