ISLAMABAD: Inflation in Pakistan has risen once again, with essential items such as ghee and flour becoming more expensive.
According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, the weekly inflation rate increased by 0.17 percent, while the annual inflation rate rose to 3.34 percent. The previous week had also recorded a rise in inflation, reflecting a continuing upward trend in the cost of living.
Recent data shows that the prices of six essential items decreased, while 21 items became more expensive, and the prices of 24 essential items overall saw an increase.
Among the items that became more costly were eggs, chicken, onions, ghee, and flour. Specifically, over the past week, the price of chicken increased by 8.92 percent, eggs by 2.25 percent, flour by 5.74 percent, and onions by 7.47 percent. The price of garlic and ghee both rose by 0.86 percent, while jaggery became 1.70 percent more expensive.
On the other hand, some items became slightly cheaper during the same period. Potatoes decreased in price by 0.93 percent, tomatoes by 11.34 percent, bananas by 1.29 percent, and chickpeas by 0.35 percent.
The cost of LPG also fell slightly by 0.59 percent. These fluctuations highlight the mixed but overall rising trend in food and essential commodity prices affecting consumers across the country.
