ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has warned that the agent mafia is exploiting innocent individuals for financial gain, endangering their futures, and damaging the country’s reputation.
He made it clear that no leniency will be shown to agents who deceive people by promising jobs abroad and then facilitate illegal travel.
In a snap inspection lasting nearly two hours at Islamabad International Airport, Minister Naqvi reviewed the immigration process, staffing levels and the services provided to passengers.
During his visit, he interacted with travelers to hear about their experiences and grievances, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges they face.
Earlier, on November 7, the minister had taken strict notice of a complaint from a passenger regarding understaffing at immigration counters. In response, he ordered an inquiry and instructed authorities to thoroughly review CCTV footage to evaluate the situation.
Mr Naqvi said that steps would be taken to prevent such issues from recurring and that passengers would not face similar inconveniences in the future.
He directed airport officials to ensure that travelers with valid documents are not unnecessarily delayed while emphasizing that passengers attempting to travel with forged or unverified documents are undermining Pakistan’s credibility.
In addition, he also instructed relevant authorities to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and passenger-friendliness of the airport’s immigration system.
