ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the National Database and Registration Authority to finalize a plan to launch the facility of issuance and renewal of computerized national identity cards (CNICs) at the union council level across the country.
He issued the direction to the NADRA authorities during to the NADRA headquarters in Islamabad. The interior minister said he had been receiving complaints about people facing hardships in making CNICs or renewing them.
The interior minister also asked the authorities to work for enhancement of the CNIC system to make it foolproof, fast-tracked and more effective.
Referring to his visits to NADRA centers and difficulties faced by people, he said a plan should be made to facilitate visitors to NADRA centers. Most of the people in rural areas have to travel long distances to reach NADRA registration centers for making or renewing their CNICs.
