NEW YORK: The Consulate General of Pakistan in New York, in collaboration with the Pakistani American Brilliance Foundation, organized an event to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pakistan’s national poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The gathering brought together a large number of Pakistani Americans from New York and New Jersey, reflecting the community’s deep admiration for Iqbal’s enduring legacy, says a press release.

In his address, the Consul General highlighted the profound significance of Iqbal Day in Pakistan’s national history and intellectual evolution.

He emphasized the core themes of Iqbal’s poetry — Khudi (selfhood), spiritual awakening, unity, and the renaissance of the Muslim Ummah — describing them as guiding principles for individual and collective progress. The Consul General also underlined Iqbal’s pivotal role in inspiring the philosophical foundations of Pakistan and his vision for a dynamic, self-reliant nation.

Other speakers paid tribute to Iqbal’s timeless thought and eloquence, noting that his poetry harmonizes Islamic ideals with a universal message of self-discovery, moral strength, and the pursuit of excellence.

They highlighted that Iqbal’s philosophy continues to resonate with younger generations across the globe. The event concluded with a reaffirmation of Iqbal’s message as a source of guidance and motivation for building a just, progressive, and enlightened society.
